New Earth Authority Police (Also known as N.E.A. Police or simply N.E.A.) was a custom futuristic police vehicle monster truck owned by FELD Motorsports. Originally created in late 2013, the truck was driven by multiple drivers over the course of its career, including Norman Miller, Aaron Basl, Travis Groth, and many others. It was also a staple of Monster Jam, competing in every season of the Triple Threat Series, and being campaigned by various teams on various chassis up until its retirement in 2017.

History[]

N.E.A. Police was originally announced in 2013 as a new truck for the 2014 Monster Jam season, with Norm Miller as the driver. The truck would later make its debut in January at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington. Miller and the truck primarily competed in various Monster Jam events across the west coast, and would later win their first major freestyle championship in Phoenix.

A second N.E.A. was added to the team for the 2015 season, being driven by Aaron Basl on the King Krunch chassis. Basl competed primarily in the inaugural More Monster Jam Series. Meanwhile, John Seasock drove the truck to a racing championship in the second Anaheim event, while Miller would win another racing championship in the second San Diego event. N.E.A. would later compete in the Young Guns Shootout at Monster Jam World Finals XVI, with Colt Stephens driving. Stephens and the truck would make it all the way to the Championship Round but lost to Coty Saucier in Monster Energy. Meanwhile, a special blue N.E.A. Police paint scheme would be featured during the Racing encore, being driven on Chuck Werner’s El Toro Loco chassis. Said paint scheme would later be used as the new scheme for the truck in the following year.

In 2016, Travis Groth joined the team, campaigning the name on the Trouble Maker chassis. Groth competed in the Monster Jam Amsoil Series West, while Basl competed in the Amsoil Series East. Meanwhile, Miller retired from driving. Steve Koehler drove the truck in Rochester New York. Groth and the truck would be invited to compete in the Young Guns Shootout at Monster Jam World Finals XVII.

2017 marked N.E.A. Police’s final year of competition. For that season, Groth competed in the Triple Threat Series West, while Basl competed in his final season in the Triple Threat Series East. The truck’s final appearance would be on December 16 in Sao Paulo, Brazil on the Storm Damage chassis, with Travis Mowery driving. N.E.A. would eventually be retired afterward.

Trivia[]

  • Fittingly, original driver Norm Miller served as a police chief in his area.
  • N.E.A and Doom's Day were believed by fans to be "enemies", mainly for their similar body styles. N.E.A. did actually race against Doomsday once in San Diego in 2015, with N.E.A. getting the win.
  • The Hot Wheels casting of N.E.A. Police was used for both itself and Doom's Day.
  • The theme song used by N.E.A. was "Bad Boys" by Inner Circle, which also serves as the theme song for the reality TV show Cops.
  • Despite being retired by the end of the 2017 season, N.E.A. remained on the Monster Jam website until 2019.
  • The original chrome paint scheme for N.E.A. appears to be inspired by RoboCop, with the blue paint scheme appearing to be inspired by RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3.
  • A Spin Master 1:64 scale diecast of N.E.A. was planned to be released in 2019 as part of a double pack alongside Doom's Day, but was cancelled for unknown reasons.
  • A new design was made for the truck in a render, but was cancelled.
