Iron Outlaw is/was a 2005 Ford Expedition monster truck owned by 2Xtreme Racing. The truck has been driven by a multitude of drivers, with its most recent being Tyler Sengar and Michael Brister. The chassis would be run as Monster Mutt from 2019-2020. Jimmy Creten has also driven the truck for various backflip attempts from 2011-2012. Iron Outlaw hasn't appeared ever since Hot Tamale debuted. It is unknown if the truck will return as it is still under the ownership of 2Xtreme Racing.
History[]
Iron Outlaw originally debuted in 2005 under Linsey Weenk. At the time, the truck would serve as an alter-ego to Scarlet Bandit. Brian Manson drove the truck in Franklin, Pennsylvania while Linsey drove Bounty Hunter.
Iron Outlaw entered its first full year of competition in 2006 with a brand-new paint scheme. During that season, Weenk would establish a streak of 21 straight racing round wins, which included racing championships at Monster Jam’s final event at the Silverdome in Pontiac, and the league’s first event at Ford Field in Detroit. Both truck and driver would later be invited to compete at World Finals VII. The truck also ran as just Outlaw for Monsters of Destruction events.
In 2007, Iron Outlaw competed at World Finals VIII where it tied for 3rd in freestyle with Safe Auto Minimizer.
In 2008, Iron Outlaw would receive a new Q-Torque-sponsored paint scheme. Weenk would leave 2Xtreme Racing to drive Blue Thunder for FELD Motorsports, resulting in Kreg Christensen taking over the driving duties for the season. The truck won racing in Houston despite Maximum Destruction accidentally landing on it during intros. The truck was invited to compete at World Finals IX where it would finish 24th in freestyle. This marked Iron Outlaw's final World Finals appearance.
In 2009, Joe Miller took over the driving duties as Christensen would also join FELD Motorsports to drive Maximum Destruction.
In 2010, Dawn Creten would drive Iron Outlaw for select shows on the Scarlet Bandit chassis. Her most notable performance would be in Phoenix, Arizona, where she would make it all the way to the championship round in racing, only to lose to her husband, Jimmy Creten.
In 2011, Iron Outlaw debuted a new matte black paint scheme. Miller would leave 2Xtreme Racing to drive Monster Mutt for FELD Motorsports. Rookie driver Nick Owens would take over the driving duties and would go on to win that year’s rookie of the Year award, alongside then-El Toro Loco driver Bari Musawwir. The truck would run as No Mercy for a Mini car commercial. Russell Steeley was the driver. However, Owens passed away five months after receiving the award, resulting in multiple drivers serving as fill-in drivers following his death throughout the 2012 season. These drivers included Russell Steeley, Dawn Creten, Mike Vaters II, Rosalee Ramer, Jay McPherson, Gene Kinal, Darren & Kelly Migues, and Ben Winslow. Winslow would take over the driving duties the following year.
Iron Outlaw debuted a new custom body style for the 2014 season. Nate Kirchener starts drives driving the truck. Winslow would also retire from driving, and Trent Montgomery took over the driving duties. In the year following, Montgomery would move to the second Bounty Hunter, and Todd Morey would take over the driving duties. Dave Radzierez & Brian Maes also drive the truck.
In 2016, Iron Outlaw debuted a new Bubba’s Burgers-sponsored paint scheme. Morey would also move over to the second Bounty Hunter, and Mike Christensen would take over the driving duties. Meanwhile, Matt Cody and Tim Missentzis drove the truck for select shows in the summer.
In 2017, Iron Outlaw debuted a brand-new grey and red paint scheme. Christensen and the truck competed in Monster Jam Stadium Championship Series 3, with Jeff Souza driving the truck in the series’ final show in Oakland. The truck also competed in the second Tampa show for Stadium Championship Series 4.
In 2018, Iron Outlaw competed in Monster Jam Stadium Championship Series 4. Christensen would later leave 2Xtreme Racing to form his own team, Team Throttle Monster. Tanner Root, who originally served as the crew chief for Tomfoolery Motorsports, took over the driving duties following Christensen’s departure. 2018 would be the last year for Iron Outlaw in Monster Jam.
In 2019, Iron Outlaw would begin running as Monster Mutt for the Monster Jam Triple Threat Series West. After the first quarter, the truck would run as Red Baron for select shows in the summer. The truck would also resume using the black matte body for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, Tyler Sengar would join the team, serving as a backup driver for the truck.
In 2020, Iron Outlaw would again compete as Monster Mutt for the Monster Jam Triple Threat Series West. After the series abruptly ended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Root stepped away from driving the truck, leaving Sengar to take over the driving duties. Kristen Hope drove the truck once as a fill-in. The truck would also debut a new paint scheme in the summer.
In 2021, Michael Brister started driving the truck, as it received a new alter-ego, Hot Tamale. The Iron Outlaw name has since been shelved due to not having a chassis to run on.
