106.7 The Fox (referred to as The Fox and Fox 106.7 in television broadcasts) was a Ford monster truck owned by FELD Entertainment and Live Nation that exclusively competed in Detroit for three years from 2007 to 2009 and was sponsored by the radio station of the same name. It replaced the former 106.7 The Drive truck from 2006 after the radio station had changed formats in May of said year. The truck always utilized the chassis of another truck in all of its appearances, these included the Taz chassis under Lee O'Donnell in 2007, the Pastrana 199 chassis under Courtney Jolly in 2008, and finally the An Escalade chassis under George Balhan in 2009.

History[]

  • 2007 - 106.7 The Fox makes its debut as the new local radio sponsorship truck for Detroit. Lee O'Donnell drives the truck on the Taz chassis (like 106.7 The Drive) and it utilizes a black body only for this event.
  • 2008 - The truck again runs in Detroit with a new extended cab body design and orange paint scheme. Courtney Jolly steps in as the driver, running the body on the Pastrana 199 chassis. During the freestyle competition, the truck launched off of an obstacle in the center of the track, and landed hard on its side, which would split its frame and injure Jolly by slipping several disks in her back. This would ultimately result in her retirement from the sport later in the year.
  • 2009 - The truck runs for a third and final time in Detroit and George Balhan runs the body on the An Escalade chassis. As such, the truck sports An Escalade's spinning rims. In April, the 106.7 The Fox radio station changed formats again, and the truck was retired.

Trivia[]

  • In 2008, the radio station hosted a contest in which the winners earned free tickets to the Detroit show that year. To announce to the kids of the family that they had won, the family and the team had the truck drive up onto the lawn of their house at night, giving the kids a special up close look at the truck.
  • In the European broadcast of Detroit 2007, the truck's name was mistakenly spelt as The Foxx
