Cyclops (also known as Cyclops 2k16) is a 1969 Chevrolet C-60 monster truck owned and driven by Terry Woodcock of Freedom Racing out of Bakersfield, California. Originally created by Fred & Gary Dykman out of Tucson, Arizona in 1981, the truck originally competed as a mud truck until being illegally acquired by crewmate Robert Moore. In 1995, Freedom Racing acquired the entire rights to the truck, and an all-new Cyclops began competition on the monster truck circuit until Freedom Racing took a hiatus. After being absent from competition for twelve years, and all-new Cyclops was constructed, and is currently in competition to this day. The truck competes alongside its teammate, Unnamed & Untamed after it was acquired from Sturges Motorsports in 2021.

History[]

Cyclops was originally created in 1981 as a mud truck by brothers Fred and Gary Dykman out of Tucson, Arizona.

In 1983, the Dykmans sold the truck to Gary Gardiner out of Bakersfield, California, who continued to operate the truck until the end of 1987.

In 1988, Cyclops was illegally acquired by Robert Moore out of Oklahoma. Jim Mace made an attempt to save the truck, with Jason Rivas supplying the money needed to purchase it. In the end, Mace was only able to acquire the frame of the truck, which he eventually sold to Jack Koberna out of New Mexico.

In 1995, Terry Woodcock of Freedom Racing acquired the rights to Cyclops. The truck would begin competition on the monster truck circuit later that year on the Berzerk chassis, featuring a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 body style with the hood molded to resemble a cyclops head. Said design ran for about two years, as Freedom Racing signed a three-year contract with World Wrestling Federation in 1996. Cyclops would eventually be shelved as the chassis was used to campaign Shawn "Heartbreak Kid" Michaels and Austin 3:16 as part of the contract.

After the contract with WWF ended in 1999, Cyclops would be placed on hiatus as Terry would drive Generation X.

In 2002, Cyclops would return to competition with an all-new design. The truck would briefly run on the Generation X chassis as the truck would receive an all-new chassis. The Generation X chassis was sold that same year and would become King Kong. The new chassis would also run as Red Cactus Crusher.

Woodcock continued to compete with the truck until 2005, when the new chassis was sold off to Don King, who converted the truck into his first Bear Foot.

Revival[]

Cyclops would remain absent from competition for twelve years until 2016, when an all-new Cyclops was constructed, with Woodcock returning to the driver’s seat. To add to that, Woodcock was able to acquire the original Cyclops frame and restore the truck to its original appearance.

Trivia[]

  • Cyclops features an additional eye add-on that can be raised and lowered using a special mechanism located in the cab of the truck.
  • The current Cyclops has been dubbed "Cyclops 2K16" due to the truck's revival being in 2016.
  • The current Cyclops, alongside the original one, were originally intended to be on display at the Monster Jam World Finals XVII pit party. However, the former truck was not finished in time.
  • Terry got rid of the 3D cyclops body after seeing children crying because of the face.
  • According to Terry Woodcock, the truck was going to receive a Hot Wheels 1:24 scale along with being included in the Hot Wheels "Then and Now" packs from 2012. A vintage Cyclops prototype was produced but for unknown reasons, the pack was cancelled.
