Barbarian is a Ford Super Duty monster truck owned and driven by Devin Jones of KABOOM! Motorsports out of Miami, Oklahoma. Since its debut in 2006, the truck has been a primary competitor in multiple monster truck leagues, including Monster Jam and the O'Reilly Outlaw Nationals. Barbarian has also competed in two Monster Jam World Finals, as well as the Young Guns Shootout at World Finals XIV.

History[]

Barbarian debuted in 2006, with Devin Jones behind the wheel. At the time of its debut, the truck ran as the successor to Jones’ previous truck, Road Rage, and featured a bright red Ford Super Duty with the logo displayed on the rear side panels, as well as a shield on the door side panels.

In 2007, a new Barbarian debuted, featuring a brand new chassis. An updated design would also debut, featuring the truck’s signature barbarian character on the sides in place of the shield. Two years later, Barbarian would begin competing in Monster Jam.

In 2010, Barbarian debuted a brand-new red and black paint scheme. The following year, Jones and the truck would win that year’s No Limits Monster Truck Championship. Jones would later construct a new chassis for Barbarian for the 2012 season. The year after that, Jones and the truck were invited to compete in the Young Guns Shootout at Monster Jam World Finals XIV. For that occasion, the truck debuted a new paint scheme.

In 2014, Jones and Barbarian were invited to compete in Monster Jam World Finals XV. There, they would successfully complete their first backflip in competition. Both truck and driver would again be invited to compete in the World Finals the following year.

A brand-new Barbarian was constructed for the 2017 season, featuring a new blue Chevrolet Silverado design and a chassis. Jones and the truck competed in Monster Jam Stadium Championship Series 3. During the series, they would win the racing competition in St. Louis, but would finish thirteenth in the series standings. Later in the year, the truck would run as Zombie for select stadium events in October.

In 2018, Barbarian competed in Monster Jam Stadium Championship Series 4. Later in June, the truck caught fire at a speedway show. Because Jones was not wearing fireproof gloves whilst driving, he would suffer severe burns to both of his hands and would be unable to drive for several months. He would return to competition during the final quarter of the season.

In 2019, Barbarian competed in the Monster Jam Arena Championship Series. The following year, the truck resumed running the Ford Super Duty body style, and would even run as Megalodon for select Monster Jam shows throughout the first quarter. This was his last Monster Jam season to date. His return to driving for Monster Jam is unknown. He would make a minor reappearance at Macon in 2020. In Miami, Oklahoma 2023, the Dodge hood returned on the Ford body.

In 2024, the truck will run as Mike Harper’s T-Rex for Monster Truck Wars for the first quarter of the year.
