Hurricane Force was a Ford monster truck owned by Natural Disaster Racing out of Bethesda, Maryland. It has been driven by Steven Thompson. Since its debut in 2010, the truck primarily serves as the teammate to Storm Damage. Hurricane Force had also been a staple of many monster truck leagues, including Monster Jam, where the truck ran as Earth Shaker from 2018 - 2020.

History[]

Hurricane Force was created in 2010 on the original Storm Damage chassis after said truck acquired an all-new chassis for the season. It would be driven by Steven Thompson. After Storm Damage received another new chassis for the 2012 season, its previous chassis would again be used for Hurricane Force. In Montgomery 2012, Tim Mente drove the truck.

For the 2014 season, Hurricane Force’s chassis would undergo a complete rebuild and redesign. It would also receive a new body style, being a 2005 Ford F-150. In Oxford, Maine, the truck ran as Throw Down For What? for a backflip. The following year, Hurricane Force would be invited to compete in the Young Guns Shootout at Monster Jam World Finals XVI. In Ontario, Canada 2015, the truck ran as Northern Nightmare, with Steven Thompson driving, while the regular Northern Nightmare & Cam McQueen was also competing.

In 2016, Hurricane Force received an all-new paint scheme. The truck would again be invited to compete in the Young Guns Shootout at Monster Jam World Finals XVII. Later that season, the truck would be run on the Iron Warrior chassis for select shows, most notably in the 2016 Monster Spectacular in Montreal. The following year, Hurricane Force competed in Monster Jam Stadium Championship Series 4. Later that December, the truck would be shipped to Brazil to run as Zombie for Monster Jam’s inaugural shows in Sao Paulo.

In 2018, Hurricane Force would begin running as Earth Shaker for Monster Jam, competing in Stadium Championship Series 3. Later that year, the truck received a new Eddie Majka chassis, while the previous J&B chassis would be used for Storm Damage for the time being. It would continue to be used on Storm Damage until 2020 when said truck resumed competition on its original chassis. The previous chassis would eventually be sold off to Donny Hebert the following year, where it was converted into Tank, and later Tyrone the Terrible. Meanwhile, Hurricane Force would also debut a retro purple and black design that November, which would also be displayed at the International Monster Truck Hall of Fame.

Hurricane Force would again run as Earth Shaker in 2019 for Monster Jam Stadium Championship Series 2, as well as select stadium events in the summer. Beginning in the summer, the truck would begin running the retro design with a few changes. It would also run as The Rod Ryan Show for the October Houston shows.

In 2020, Hurricane Force would run as Earth Shaker yet again for Monster Jam Stadium Championship Series Yellow. After the series abruptly ended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hurricane Force would compete in select shows for the remainder of the season. It is unknown if the truck will return to Monster Jam, but highly likely due to the relationship between the 2 organizations.

In 2022, the truck ran the former Carolina Crusher body used from the TNT Motorsports: Unfinished Business event. Former Higher Education driver Jimmy Tracey comes out of retirement briefly to drive the truck in Dinwiddie for Monster Truck Throwdown.

In 2023, former Equalizer driver Mike Hawkins represents the "Porter Force" body for a Toughest Monster Truck Tour show on the former Buckshot chassis in Casper, Wyoming (which would be later sold to Mike Harper.) He also drove the truck at several other shows. The team would also bring back the old 2008 F-150 radar scheme body for the Beaumont, Texas shows as well as in Lafayette, Louisiana. Team Throttle Monster would purchase the Eddie chassis Hurricane Force and convert it to Kamikaze, leaving the truck without a chassis. On April 9, Tim Mente would sadly pass away.

  • Hurricane Force has competed overseas as Zombie for a show in Brazil, making it one of few independently-owned monster trucks to compete in an international Monster Jam show (War Wizard, Jurassic Attack and King Krunch being three examples, the first two going on a European tour on FELD chassis and the third going to a Mexico City show).
