BroDozer was a diesel-powered monster truck owned by DieselSellerz and FELD Motorsports. It was based around the Discovery Channel TV show Diesel Brothers and was driven by Heavy D and Diesel Dave, who currently star in said show. Colt Stephens also drove the truck. The truck made history in Monster Jam by becoming the first-ever of its kind to ever compete in said league.

History[]

BroDozer debuted on June 23, 2018, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee with Heavy D behind the wheel. The truck would later compete in Houston and Minneapolis, with Colt Stephens driving the truck in Glendale.

BroDozer entered its first full year of competition in 2019, competing in Stadium Championship Series 2, with Stephens, Heavy D, and Diesel Dave sharing the driving duties. During the series’ second weekend of Anaheim shows, BroDozer would make history by not only becoming the first diesel-powered monster truck to successfully attempt a backflip in competition during the first show but also becoming the first diesel-powered monster truck to successfully attempt a double consecutive backflip during the second show. Both Heavy D and the truck would be invited to compete in Monster Jam World Finals XX in May. A few weeks later, on May 27, BroDozer would make world history by jumping over a flying airplane. A few months later, Heavy D and BroDozer would be invited to compete in the inaugural All-Star Challenge in Las Vegas, Nevada in October, where they would be drafted into Team Fire.

In 2020, Diesel Dave left the team to drive his own truck, BroCamino. Heavy D and Colt Stephens would share driving duties for the season as the truck competed in Stadium Championship Series Green. After the series abruptly ended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BroDozer would be placed into storage as a result of budget cuts by FELD Entertainment due to the pandemic.

The truck was later pulled from storage to be featured in Monster Jam Breaking World Records, participating in an exhibition drag race alongside BroCamino, but has not returned to competition since. However, Dustin Brown revealed on an episode of the Inside Monster Jam podcast that BroDozer is still in the Monster Jam garage, although FELD doesn't have plans for it to return. He also said that it hasn't been started since the Breaking World Records attempt, so it would take a lot of work to get it running again. The truck is now a Monster Jam display truck.

Controversy[]

According to an episode on Diesel Brothers, BroDozer was initially advertised as “the world’s first diesel-powered monster truck.” This statement was untrue, as the first diesel-powered monster truck in history was actually Jeff Dane’s King Kong, though the first tube frame diesel-powered monster truck would be Hushpower Diesel (now Xtreme Diesel), which was created in 2007 by Dave Radzierez. To add to that, Radzierez had been competing in Monster Jam in Xtreme Diesel since 2017. On July 27, 2018, only 34 days after the debut of BroDozer, Radzierez built a modernized diesel engine similar to the former truck's and installed it into Xtreme Diesel in response to the controversial statement. He would also cut ties with Monster Jam afterward most likely also for the same reason, resulting in BroDozer becoming the only diesel-powered truck to ever compete in Monster Jam. In another episode of Diesel Brothers, Heavy D did acknowledge the existence of other diesel-powered monster trucks but stated they had never competed in Monster Jam. FELD Motorsports and the Diesel Brothers have also attempted to clarify by referring to BroDozer as "the world's first diesel-powered Monster Jam truck."

Trivia[]

  • BroDozer is the second monster truck created by Monster Jam to be sponsored by a Discovery Channel show, the first being Gas Monkey Garage.
  • BroDozer was originally intended to debut in January 2018 and compete in Stadium Championship Series 2. However, the truck was still undergoing extensive engine testing at the time, which resulted in the debut being delayed by six months. Colt Stephens would drive Zombie as a placeholder truck for the time being.
  • The roll cage featured on BroDozer's cab is removed prior to competition. Despite this, the truck competed in several shows with its roll cage still fitted on, most notably Nashville and Glendale 2018.
  • Beginning in October 2019 at the All-Star Challenge, BroDozer featured a bumper guard on the front of the truck, which is also removed along with the roll cage prior to competition.
  • BroDozer had three different renders. The first two were mostly the same as each other, but with different logo designs. Said renders also feature the truck using a shock setup similar to Grave Digger XXIII. The third render featured a thinner tailgate and a larger extended cab, which made the truck more accurate to the original vehicle.
  • BroDozer used five different theme songs over the course of its career. The first song was "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top, which was intended to be the theme song up until the truck's debut show, even playing during the practice event the day before the show. At its debut show, "Party Hard" by Andrew W.K. became the new theme, which was also played when the Diesel Brothers drove the truck. The third theme, "Truck Yeah" by Tim McGraw was played during the Glendale 2018 event. In 2019, the theme was updated to "Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore featuring Ryan Lewis. BroDozer's fifth and final theme was "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne, which was used throughout the 2020 season. Meanwhile, "Party Hard" is still occasionally played for pit party interviews, however.
  • BroDozer bore a resemblance to Big Yellow from Monster Jam: Maximum Destruction. However, there is no correlation between the two.
  • In late 2022, the truck bios on MonsterJam.com were updated & Brodozer was removed.
